Portrait of Mitra Mitrovi?
Mitra Mitrovi? was a Serbian politician, gender equalities activist and writer and lived from 6th September 1912 till 4th April 2001. She was the first woman minister in the country’s history as education minister in the 1930s, also in 1936 she was one of the co-founders of the magazine „Woman today“. In her honor the Belgrade artist JANA DANILOVI? created this mural in December 2023 as part of the the project “Exceptional Women of Serbia”. The aim is to present Serbian female role models on high scale murals throughout Serbia. It was organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in cooperation with the CENTER FOR WOMEN’S STUDIES, the cultural center KC GRAD and nine cities in Serbia.
