FINLAND: Streetart Tornio – HORIZONT Collective & Pullo Eki Tribute – Graffiti and Urban Art

The Finnish border town of Tornio is basically part of a twin city that is closely connected to its Swedish counterpart Haparanda. The Swedish-Finnish border runs right through the middle of the town. This article is about urban art on the Finnish side of Tornio. The whole area is very famous for salmon fishing, because it is a major breeding and passing ground for these animals. But it is also a place of creative “breeding” and development of art and paint on the walls. Especially the HORIZONT collective has done its best with many artworks to make the streets more colorful.

GERMANY: Streetart Karlsruhe – Combo Creative Space – Graffiti, Breakdance & Hip Hop – Urban Art Collection

The hip-hop cultural center COMBO at Haid-und-Neu-Straße 165 in the Hagsfeld district was founded in April 2005 by the mobile youth work of the city of Karlsruhe together with the FARBSCHALL association aka TEAM COMBO. Since then, the place has been a focal point for graffiti, hip hop and breakdancing and hosts a constantly changing outdoor gallery with awesome urban art. The basic idea is to give young people the opportunity to develop their creativity and this also includes passing on knowledge to future generations. Each one teach one!

SPAIN: Streetart Mojácar – Travelgraff Urban Art Jam – Graffiti at the Gas Station

Those great artworks were created close to the Spanish town of Mojácar during the fantastic jam TRAVELGRAFF in 2018. It is a national contest with numerous Spanish artists from the Almeria region and also from other parts of the country. The motto of the jam was “Nuestro medioambiente y el suyo”, which means in English “Our environment and yours”. You can find the graffiti spot at the propane and butan gas station on the A-370 highway northwest of the town in the direction to Garrucha.

CANADA: Streetart Montréal – UNDER PRESSURE – Graffiti Jam – Fantastic Urban Art since 1995

Today we show you awesome artworks from several editions of the fantastic event UNDER PRESSURE, which is the oldest street art festival in Montreal, perhaps in America, maybe in the entire world! It was founded by the two local street artists SEAZ and FLOW in 1995 and its primary mission is to encourage community involvement through urban culture, and thus contribute to the development and influence of urban arts at the local and international level. A real great happening!

GUATEMALA: Streetart San Pedro La Laguna – Indigenious Graffiti at Lake Atitlán

San Pedro La Laguna is a small town of about 9.000 inhabitants located on the southwest shore of Lake Atitlán and below the San Pedro volcano, whose 3019 meter peak is a popular hiking destination. Also recommended for a visit are the Church of St. Peter, the hot Termales and the idyllic hiking trails along the lake. San Pedro La Laguna and the region have been home to the Tz’utujil people for centuries, and you can find expressions of their culture and art everywhere in the streets, including fantastic urban artworks of course.

GERMANY: Streetart Berlin – Schöneberg – Natur Park Südgelände – Priesterweg Gallery

The park area “Südgelände” functioned as a locomotive and shunting station about 200 years ago, and much on the site still reminds of that time. There are many rails overgrown by bushes and trees, old sheds and engine halls that have been restored and function as cultural sites, restaurants or art workshops now. The park operator has approved the location on the railway line as a spray point. Check out the great artworks!

NEW ZEALAND: Streetart Whangārei – Street Prints Manaia Festival – Tuia te muka Tāngata

Whangārei is a city on the North Island of New Zealand, the Northland or Te Ika-a-Māui in the original language. The city has around 45.000 inhabitants and is the administrative headquarters of the district. You can find fantastic artworks in the urban space and especially in January 2019 some of the world’s best urban artists took part in the international art festival Street Prints Manaia. Another great streetart project is the Te Oranga jam.

CYPRUS: Streetart Limassol – Ypsonas Industrial Zone – Alexandrias Parking – ZOGRAFF JAM SPACE

Located in the Ypsonas Industrial Zone north of Limassol you can find a huge parking lot called Alexandrias. Bikers meet regularly on the large concrete area to do tricks or gather for rides. In 2022, also the fourth edition of the grandiose ZOGRAFF GRAFFITI JAM took place here and the more than 150 meter long surrounding walls were painted with a lot of hip hop, art and party. The writers received support from BIKE MAFIA CYPRUS and KOUMBARIS PAINTWORKS.

The Pacific coast city of Lima is the capital of the South American Andean state of Peru and, with around 8.5 million inhabitants, by far the largest city in the country. It is an important transport hub and the bustling metropolis has a well-preserved center from the colonial era with numerous universities, colleges, museums and monuments. The old town of Lima was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. However, also modern cultural heritage can be found in the streets in the form of fantastic graffiti and streetart.

CANADA: Streetart Montréal – Vieux-Rosemont – Canettes de Ruelle – Urban Art Festival – 7th Edition 2023

In 2023 the fantastic urban art festival CANETTES DE RUELLE took place for the 7th time in Montréal. On September 2nd, 3rd and 4th more than 50 artists created fabulous artworks around the Vieux-Rosemont district and beautified the neighborhood.
